Golden Circle & Snorkel in Silfra Day Tour from Reykjavik
Tour Description
This 10-hour tour combines the major attractions of the Golden Circle with a guided snorkeling session in the Silfra Fissure.
Join this easy, full-day tour from Reykjavík for a combination of Iceland’s famous geology and a unique aquatic adventure, available all year round.
The day focuses on the essential Golden Circle route. It begins at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its exposed rift valley and historical significance as the site of Iceland's first parliament. Here, the unique snorkeling experience takes place in the Silfra Fissure, which is filled with exceptionally clear, filtered glacier meltwater, offering visibility over 100 meters. A certified PADI Dive Master provides safety briefings and equips you with a full drysuit, thermal undersuit, and other gear, ensuring warmth and comfort despite the cold water (2°C–4°C). You will literally float between the tectonic continents.
Following the snorkeling activity, the tour continues to the Geysir Geothermal Area to witness the reliable eruptions of the Strokkur geyser, shooting water up to 35 meters high. The final stop is Gullfoss, the "Golden Waterfall," where the powerful glacial river dramatically plunges into a deep canyon.
The tour includes round-trip transportation from Reykjavík, all snorkeling gear, hot chocolate, and complimentary GoPro underwater photos. (Note: Participants must be able to swim, and specific age/health requirements apply for snorkeling.)
